Several states have taken precautionary measures and heightened security against a proposed Bharat Bandh on Monday
The call for Bharat Bandh comes as the nation has been witnessing violent protests in several parts for the last few days after the central government announced the Agnipath scheme
While it is not clear which organisation called for the Bharat Bandh on Monday, many have supported the bandh online.
Section 144 imposed
The Noida police has imposed Section 144 said that there had been calls for a shutdown in the city and a march towards the national capital Delhi. Traffic snarls have been witnessed at the Delhi-Gurgaon border, amid calls for the Bandh. In Faridabad, that borders the national capital, roadblocks have been set up at various places.
Security has been bolstered Bihar, which saw particularly violent scenes of vandalism and arson, especially around the railway stations.
Around 500 trains have been cancelled owing to the Bharat Bandh and due to damage caused to the protests, services have also been affected.
Meanwhile all private and government schools have been directed to stay shut on Monday in Jharkhand.
Kerala and Punjab are also on high alert, with police saying they will arrest anyone who would engage in violence in the state.

In addition to age relaxation, the government has announced a 10 per cent quota for ‘Agniveers’ in MoD jobs, including the Coast Guard, defence civilian posts, and all 16 defence public sector undertakings.
The Centre has also announced a 10 per cent quota for retired Agniveers in the the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), which include the Central Reserve Police Force, the Border Security Force, the Central Industrial Security Force, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, the Seema Suraksha Bal and the Assam Rifles.
