YouTube has appointed Indian-origin Neal Mohan as its new CEO, after long-time CEO Susan Wojcicki stepped down on Thursday (February 16).
It was in Wojcickis garage that Google, YouTubes parent company, first began.
Neal Mohan joined Google in 2008 and was the Chief Product Officer at YouTube, involved with YouTube Shorts and Music.
Wojcicki’s departure comes at a time when AI chatbots like ChatGPT (now integrated with rival Microsofts Bing Search) are changing the world of search.
TikTok and Instagram Reels are also eating into the market share once dominated by YouTube.
Addressing Wojcicki, Mohan said on Twitter, ‘Its been amazing to work with you over the years. Youve built YouTube into an extraordinary home for creators and viewers. Im excited to continue this awesome and important mission. Looking forward to what lies ahead.’
