This is what SRK was doing at Lata Mangeshkar’s funeral…

A viral video of Shah Rukh Khan offering prayers and then removing his face mask to blow air at the funeral of singer Lata Mangeshkar is being misinterpreted and is part of the ‘dua’ in the Islamic faith.

The widely shared video led to claims that Khan ‘spat’ at the legendary singer’s mortal remains.

Several people reacted online and pointed out that Shah Rukh Khan was reciting the ‘fatiha,’ a prayer that is said at a funeral, then blew some air into the wind, to complete the tradition.

Blowing into the wind after a prayer is a well-known ritual in the Islamic tradition and done to ward off evil and ensure that the prayer reaches the person it is intended for.

‘To be able to spin Shah Rukh Khan’s performing a Dua and blowing on Lata Mangeshkar, a sign of respect and blessing in his religion, to a defiling act like spitting only proves that so many out there only think about how to demonise Muslims next.’ tweeted Andre Borges.

Lata Mangeshkar was given a state funeral at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Sunday, February 6, after she passed away due to complications from COVID at the age of 92.
