Supreme Court fixes new date for Noida Supertech Twin Towers demolition

The Supreme Court fixed August 28 for the demolition of Supertech’s twin 40-storey towers in its Emerald project in Noida, after earlier fixing August 21 as the date.

A bench of Justices D Y Chandrachud and A S Bopanna granted time from August 29 to September 4 for the demolition, on technical and weather grounds.

The management of the building project has been also asked to co-operate with all agencies engaged.

The date had been earlier extended till August 28.

The top court’s order came on an application filed by Interim Resolution Professional (IRP) seeking an extension by the agency carrying out the demolition.

The demolition is being carried out in pursuance of a Supreme Court order last August which noted that the structures had come up in violation of construction norms.
