Philippine Air Force Plane crash: At least 50 feared dead

A C-130 Philippine Air Force (PAF) aircraft with 96 people on board crashed in Sulu, Philippines on Sunday.

On Monday, Philippine military officials confirmed 50 people were killed in the crash, including 47 military personnel and three civilians.

A total of 49 military personnel and four civilians were also injured.

According to Reuters reports, the plane attempted to land at Jolo Airport but overshot the runway and crashed in the nearby town of Patikul,

Eyewitness reports suggest the plane was attempting a landing with ‘incomplete landing gear.’

Armed Forces Of Philippines spokesman M/Gen. Edgard Arevalo is quoted as saying the aircraft was in excellent condition and followed all protocols, including the approach speed and landing measures.

An investigation has been ordered into the crash.
