Patanjali Launches ‘Coronil,’ Claims To Cure Corona In Seven Days

Patanjali Ayurved which had earlier announced that it may have found a cure for COVID-19, has gone a step further and launched its medicine called ‘Coronil’ which it claims to treat patients within a week, to full recovery.

At a press conference in Haridwar, founder Baba Ramdev said that the company was coming out with the the first Ayurvedic treatment that had ‘clinically controlled trial based evidence’ and was ‘research-based.’

The company claims to have conducted two-stage trials, with over 200 patients tested and treated to 100% recovery. The all-important clinical control trial was conducted thereafter, with the the company saying that data of the trial will be released as evidence in the next few days.

The medicine consists of tablets named ‘Coronil’ and ‘Swasari Vati’, and an oil called Anu Oil, and is price just over Rs. 500. The efficacy of Patanjali’s medicine on Covid-19 cure is yet to be corroborated by any standard body however.

The World Health Organization (WHO) had recently said that while several clinical drug trials are under process the world over, there is currently no proof that any drug can prove an effective cure. It remains to be seen whether ‘alternative medicines’ such as this provide a safe alternative, post testing and standardization.

India has been keeping up the battle with the pandemic and the number of Covid-19 cases neared 4.5 lakh cases on Tuesday, with over 14000 dead. India is still to reach peak stage, but is breaking daily infection records, in a worrying trend.
