iPhone 13 set to launch on September 14?

Apple will reportedly launch its next-generation iPhone 13 series on September 14, with pre-orders beginning September 17. The upcoming model will have four variants just like the predecessor, iPhone 12, including mini, Pro and Pro Max.

It is unclear when the new iPhone will hit Indian shores, as it is alleged to be on sale as early as September 24 in the US. There has been a lot of buzz and rumor-mongering amid several supposed ‘leaks’ leading up to the launch of the new iPhone, but the general consensus as to what buyers can expect from the new iPhone is as follows:

Design

While the regular and mini variants will feature the same dual cameras at the back as the 12, we might see triple cameras on the Pro and Pro Max variants.

Dummies in rumored leaks show a larger sensor on the iPhone 13 and a diagonal module including the LED flash. The higher end Pro and Pro MAx may get the LiDAR sensor, similar to the existing iPhone 12 Pro variants.

The TrueDepth camera panel, referred by fans and non-fans alike as ‘the notch’ is not going aywhere apparently but will shrink in size for this outing.

Display

Pro models on the 13 will reportedly support a 120Hz refresh rate, known as the “ProMotion display.” on the iPad Pro models launched last year. New face unlock tech might even support people wearing masks, in keeping with the times we live in.

It is also expected to feature an Always-On Display (AOD) mode a la Apple Watch. LTPO displays ( low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) adjust settings according to the content, thus making the phone more power-efficent as compared to OLED displays while making a high dynamic refresh rate possible.

Ports

Apple could also retain the USB Type-C port for faster-charging speeds, as opposed to the Lightning ports.

Chipset

The iPhone 13 is slated to ship with Apple’s faster and more efficient A15 Bionic chipset.

Connectivity

5G connectivity support, Wi-Fi 6E, wireless charging are all expected in the iPhone 13.
