Ariana Grande Gets Inked With 93-Year-Old Grandmother

Getting a tattoo with a friend can be a fun experience. But for Ariana Grande, her most recent tattoo experience was more special than most because she got to share it with her grandmother. While it’s true that about 14% of Americans of all ages have gotten at least one tattoo, Ariana’s Nonna got her first at the age of 93.

It’s no secret that Ariana has had a difficult year — the Manchester bombing, Mac Miller’s death, and the breakup with now ex-fiance Pete Davidson are just a few of the many traumatic events she faced in 2018. But one big positive event that recently happened was Ariana being named Billboard’s Woman of the Year. And what better way to celebrate a big life event like that than to get some new ink?

Ariana’s new tattoo is right in the middle of the back of her hand and was done by Mira Mariah, a tattoo artist from Brooklyn. The tattoo consists of a moon, a sun, and stars and is overall beautiful, celestial line work. Some fans are comparing the new ink to Ariana’s “God Is a Woman” video, which featured similar images. But while no one knows for sure what the meaning behind the ink is, it is gorgeous nonetheless.

And with Ariana getting some fresh ink, her Nonna must have been feeling left out. So at the age of 93, she decided to get her first tattoo with her granddaughter. She got “Ciccio”, which is the nickname of her late husband, tattooed on the inside of her ring finger.

While getting a tattoo, especially your first, can be a scary experience, Nonna handled it like a champ.

When asked how she was doing, she responded by saying “I feel fine… I’ve had a little bit more excitement than this.”

After Nonna’s tattoo was complete, she got a big round of applause and cheers from those in the room with her — her dog was even there to celebrate with her.

A lot of people are scared of growing old. A recent survey found that 55% of people say their greatest fear about aging is becoming a burden to their family. It appears that Ariana and her Nonna have found a new way to cope with aging — getting inked.

So with new ink to sport and her courageous grandmother by her side, Ariana is ready to take on the new year.

She ended her Women of the Year acceptance speech by saying, “I look forward to hopefully learning to give some of the love and forgiveness that I’ve given away so frivolously and easily to men in the past to myself hopefully this year. I have everything I’ve ever dreamt of having, and as of late I’ve discovered that it’s the things I’ve always had and the people I’ve always had that still make me the happiest.”
