Uttar Pradesh Tourism Rises Up to Second Position After Beating Andhra Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh has been the hub of culture, religion, language and politics since ages and the legacy still continues in the modern times. Being the heartland of ancient cultural influences and possessing an efficacious state government, Uttar Pradesh has become a big player in India’s Tourism being ranked 3rd in Foreign Tourist Visits and 2nd in Domestic Tourist visits this year!

Uttar Pradesh’s archetypal ‘Mehmanawazi andaz’ is as prevalent today as it was before, and with promptitude of UP government, it has been gelled with complaisant schemes, giving rise to Tourism milestones!

According to a recent survey by Ministry of Tourism, Uttar Pradesh has been ranked 3rd amongst the Foreign Tourists’ hotspots in India, first and second being Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra respectively.  With constant efforts made by Akhilesh Yadav’s government, the state managed to outrank picturesque states like Goa, Uttarakhand and Kerala with a record 3.1 million tourists!

Apart from the Policies, the state government has also carved a niche for itself in the tourism sector with initiatives like The Heritage Arc, Taj Mahotsav, Hot Air Balloon and the World Bank funded Pro-poor Tourism project.

The scenic background and an aura of spiritual serenity existing in the holy cities like Varanasi, Mathura, Gokul, Jhansi and Ayodhya; along with the medieval Indian beauty spots like Agra and Lucknow, make an ideal eye candy for the tourists. Furthermore with well-maintained flora, fauna and reserves, Uttar Pradesh government has left no opportunity to leave a strong impression on the tourists’.

Nowadays, the tech-savvy world can even share their sweet memories onto the Taj Mahal’s own twitter handle ‘@TajMahal’. The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department had launched this a year back, enabling Taj to become the first historical monument in the world to have its own Twitter account. Undoubtedly, the world’s first wonder, Taj Mahal itself attracts millions of tourists every year but with additional comforts of healthy travelling and cozy stays aided by the Akhilesh Government rewards tourists with sweet refreshing memories.

The Heritage Arc, a UP Tourism initiative has further eased the tourists’ trips by providing them with a plethora of opportunities to explore the state in all its glory. The sightseers, while moving on this arc from one end of the state to the other, cover Agra region, Lucknow region and Varanasi region along the pious rivers leading to an enigmatic trip, with several exciting destinations along the way. These regions define the quintessential Uttar Pradesh and this brilliantly designed Arc takes the excursionists through a kaleidoscopic journey of the archaic monuments, architectural wonders, pilgrimage centres and helps them witness spiritual experiences and wildlife.

The state government has focused on identification and development of new tourism circuits without forgetting advancement of old circuits following expansion. Awareness and sensitivity about tourism have been effectively spread amongst general public leading to further yield in the same. This strategic planning was further followed by public-private partnership in the tourism field. With the launch of affable Metro Rail project along with other attempts to modernise transportation, the state oughts to make intra-state travel easier.

With utilization of all the picturesque locations in this state, the state government has put its best leg forth in strategic planning and successful implementation. The sound of vociferous success hence applauds and acclaims the efforts!
