Speaking at the UP Investor Summit, Mukesh Ambani announced a slew of services by Reliance’s telecom arm Jio in the state, including a 5G services rollout by December 2023, part of an INR 75000 crore investment.
Reliance will set up 10 GW of renewable capacity and start a bio-energy business in the state, as part of its plan, he added, as he spoke at the summit held in Lucknow.
‘Today, I am happy to announce that we plan to invest an additional Rs 75,000 crore in UP over the next four years across Jio, Retail, and Renewable Businesses. These new investments will create an additional over 1 lakh jobs in the state,’ Mr Ambani said during the speech.
Ambani also revealed two revolutionary initiatives, Jio School and Jio AI Doctor, to bring top-notch education and healthcare to the small towns and villages of the state.
Reliance Retail plans to upend the entire kirana and small store ecosystem in UP as well.
The chairman made four commitments in the telecommunications, retail and renewable energy sphere to the Uttar Pradesh government on behalf of Reliance Industries.
Reliance Foundation, the non-profit leg of the conglomerate will also contribute to the Modi government’s Navami Gange Mission, to transform lives in UP, Ambani said.
PM Modi inaugurated the summit, which brought together policy makers, industry leaders, academics, think-tanks and leaders from across the world ‘to collectively explore business opportunities and forge partnerships,’ as per the official government statement.
Mr Ambani, who recently dislodged Gautam Adani as the richest Asian, owing to Adani’s tussle with Hindenburg Research, had high praise for the PM saying ‘Our nation has transformed remarkably since you have become Prime Minister in 2014. Guided by your vision, and driven by your laser-sharp focus on execution, a bold New India is taking shape… an India which will fulfil the aspirations of its 1.4 billion citizens.’
