South Delhi Dhaba Owner Files Financial Fraud Complaint Against Insta Influencer

Prasad, who owns a food stall called Baba ka Dhaba in South Delhi, featured in a viral video which showed him speak about his financial struggles during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, owing to a lack of business.

Social media influencer Gaurav Wasan, shot and shared Mr. Prasad’s video online, to urge customers to order from the stall and to make donations to help the stall owner’s financial woes.

Now, Mr. Wasan is being accused by the 80-year-old for “misappropriation of funds”, according to the police.

Prasad alleges that Wasan “shot his video and posted it online and convinced the public on social media to donate money ” but “intentionally and deliberately shared only his and his family/friends bank details and mobile numbers with the donors and pocketed a huge amount of donations through different mode of payments”.

Owing to the Mr. Wasan’s initial video, over the next few days there were long queues outside the dhaba with many willing to help the ailing owner’s fortunes.

Mr. Wasan has refuted these allegations and has reportedly shown his willingness to share all details, for the actual facts to emerge.
