Solana to make a new ‘crypto phone’

The Sagapreviously known as the Osom OV1, will be built by a team consisting of former engineers and designers from Essential, and will be the first Web3 ‘crypto phone.’

The phone will have a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display, 512GB of storage, and 12GB of RAM. It’ll also be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip and boast a 50-megapixel primary camera, with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide shooter.

Solana CEO Anatoly Yakovenko said that the Saga will help ‘crypto go mobile.’

For consumers that use crypto wallets, Web3, and NFTs, the Saga will offer support for decentralized apps on the Solana blockchain,

NFT marketplace Magic Eden, Solana wallet maker Phantom, and cryptocurrency exchange Orca all backed the Saga and Solana’s new software efforts.

The phone will be priced at $1,000, with Solana and Osom saying it will ship on target in early 2023.

Web3 enthusiasts who cheered the development at the announcement. It remains to be seen if the world-at-large reciprocates.
