Sena Vs Sena: Harish Salve For Shinde Camp, Abhishek Singhvi For Uddhav Thackeray In Supreme Court

Acting on Eknath Shinde’s petition challenging the disqualification notices issued to him and 15 other rebel MLAs last week, the Supreme Court issued notices to Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal, Chief Whip Sunil Prabhu, leader of Legislature party Anil Chaudhary and the Centre.

The Supreme Court has also issued notices to Deputy Speaker, Secretary of Maharashtra State Legislative Assembly, Centre and others on pleas filed by rebel MLAs against the disqualification notice.

The Supreme Court also recorded statements from the Maharashtra Government’s standing counsel that adequate security measures were in place so as to prevent any threat to the life, liberty, or property of the MLAs.

Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray on Monday spoke out to the rebel Shiv Sena leaders on Monday, urging them to come face-to-face with the government and tell them what was wrong.

The government and the Shiv Sena party, led by Aaditya Thackeray’s father Uddhav Thackeray, are facing a turbulent time, as senior Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde and nearly 40 of the 55 Sena MLAs defected from the party.

Aaditya Thackeray called the Shinde camp ‘traitors, not rebels’ adding ‘Those who betray… they never win. We are confident of and are getting a lot of love.’

‘Shiv Sena’s doors are open for those who want to leave and those who want to return to the party. Those rebel MLAs who are traitors will not be taken back into the party’

‘Road to Vidhan Bhavan from the airport goes via Worli,’ Aaditya Thackery warned.

The Shinde camp will be represented in the apex court on Monday by noted lawyer, Harish Salve.

On the other hand, the Uddhav Thackeray and the Maharashtra Government will be represented in the Supreme Court by Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

The matter will be heard by the apex court on July 11.
