MIPIM In Cannes: The global real estate fair in France is back in post-pandemic form

As real estate industry professionals take stock of the new reality and decision making for the “new normal”, the world’s biggest real estate industry exhibition, MIPIM is back, albeit in a lighter format leading upto the main March 2022 event. With a view to be back before the top real estate players in the world launch their strategic plans, the director of the event, Mr. Ronan Vespart, announced this edition to the global press.

The current full-scale edition, which would have been the 31st edition, touted as the international real estate industry’s main global meeting every year in March, was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the travel restrictions brought on by the worsening COVID-19 crisis.

The duration of the Cannes event was halved, with an expected attendance of 5000 people over a two-day event.

The event acts as an important platform for companies to meet investors to evince interest in their projects, ranging from boutique hotels for startups to co-working spaces and office rentals for larger companies.

MIPIM even in the ‘lite’ version of the September event seeks to make its presence felt themselves, as things change in real time for the global economy at the start of another financial year. Before the main event in March 2022, the vision is looking at a long-term perspective, as cities and real estate economies grapple with uncertainty, added Mr. Vaspart.

Initially signaled as a “need to reconnect”, the event shines upon the fact that real estate is built on the management of human agreements that are facilitated by meetings, discussions and sharing, and so the conferences are to be devoted to taking stock of the situation of the real estate sectors, or countries.

Also being taken into account, as far as the global economy is concerned, ecological, social and governance (ESG) criteria, are also on the program, in the challenges and goals to be met along with logistics, newer forms of office working programs, hybrid models and telework and their effects on leasing for example.

Online participation for some conferences will allow experts and particpants from all over the world to attend the event as global intercontinental travel is still not fully eased.
