The world of technology boasts of very few women at the helm of affairs, and Marissa Mayer is one such woman with immense leadership capabilities. She has taken over as the CEO of Yahoo for just a little more than a year, and already, the impact of her take over is evident. Stock prices have doubled; the company is performing way better than what it was doing earlier.

“We pride ourselves as being the world’s largest start-up’, smiles Marissa disarmingly. Four vital aspects have played a key role in the website’s success-people, product, traffic and revenue.” It’s a kind of chain reaction, wherein we first have to have the right people and they help build the right product. Inevitably, this leads to creation of the right traffic which then leads to generation of revenue online.

After Marissa Mayer’s take over as the CEO, Yahoo has started receiving nearly 12,000 resumes a week. Attrition rates have also come down, and Yahoo has a mind boggling 800 million monthly active users. This signifies a 20 percent increase in the active users from what it used to be previously.

Nowadays, Yahoo is focused on the mobile, and already they have 315 million mobile users with daily search of home page, mail, sports and finance. Marissa Mayer likes simplicity and incorporates the same into Yahoo. “ I like basic, simple and efficient stuff, and Yahoo mail is just that; it loads faster, has minimal distractions or none at all, and fulfills the objective of mailing.”

Marissa Mayer is not daunted by hard work; in fact, she is hard working and is always poised to take on fresh challenges. Challenges have proven to be more exhilarating than exhausting for her. “Nothing can beat the passion and hunger of a founder’- quips Marissa.

As a CEO, Marissa knows that it is imperative to take decisions; fewer ones probably but absolutely and totally correct ones. ‘ The primary and most important job of a CEO is to generate revenue”- affirms Marissa Mayer.
