Is Mukesh Ambani Moving To London Permanently?

India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, might be moving to London, if media reports are to be believed. According to a reports in the media, speculation is rife that the Ambanis are planning to shift base to the 300-acre London property in Buckinghamshire, Stoke Park.

The property acquired at a reported Rs 592 crore earlier this year 

Reportedly, after the Ambanis spent most of their time during the lockdowns and pandemic inside their posh 4,00,000 square-foot sky-high residence ‘Antilia’ located on Altamount Road, touted as the world’s most expensive residence, on one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Mumbai, the billionaire’s row.

The property house a state-of-the-art medical facility and acres of green cover, which the Ambanis wanted while finalizing their new residence in April, having spent a lot of time during the lockdown in their Mumbai home and in Jamnagar, where their flagship refinery, which is also the world’s largest, is housed.

The family is learnt to set up a shrine similar to the ones in their Mumbai home and various offices in India. Marble sculptures of Ganesha, Radha-Krishna and Hanuman were commissioned from a Rajasthan sculptor for the same, according to Mid-Day.

Following their absence from their Mumbai home over the past two-and-a-half months, there had been much speculation, but a source in the know confirmed that all is well and that the family has just been busy setting up the new home, according to their special requirements.

The British press remarked the property was a private residence till 1908, after which it was converted into a country club. The property houses a luxury hotel and a golf course. The Financial Times reported that the property as having featured in two James Bond films. 

According to the grapevine, Mukesh Ambani and his family will reportedly divide their time between their new UK home and Mumbai. 

This has triggered plenty of reactions, good and bad on social media.

“What does it say about the state of the union when Mukesh Ambani, India’s richest person and one of world’s 10 richest billionaires overall with Bezos, Musk, Gates, Zuckerberg and Buffett (per Forbes World’s Billionaires List—The Richest in 2021)—decides to set up base in the UK?” wrote one user.

Mukesh Ambani’s net worth is now worth 100.6 billion USD, and he has joined the club of the ‘super rich’ along with Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffet and others. 

On Oct. 7, Ambani’s company announced a partnership with American brand 7-Eleven to bring the chain of convenience stores to India. The group consists of individuals whose worth is 12 figures or more and is topped by Elon Musk.
