How to Maintain Your Mental Health During COVID-19

Your mental health may be suffering due to the pandemic, or it may even be in shambles for some people. This isn’t an uncommon thing, especially with these uncertain times. While rumination of the past and those times may happen, and you may feel like you have to focus on this, your mental health doesn’t have to suffer either. There are plenty of ways to keep your mental health grounded during a pandemic, and we’ll give you some ways to improve on this, and to keep your mental health properly in check with all that’s going on. 

Try Something New 

Trying something new may be something scary especially in these times, but doing something novel can change your life. 

Have you wanted to start a new business, or effectively run a remote business? Well now is a better time than ever to be doing that. 

If you’ve considered a new hobby or business venture, then now is the time to get going with it.  It can be scary, especially if you’re unsure about things. But if you’ve lost your job or are struggling to make it work, something new may help you. It’s good to figure out something new to do, since it does distract you. 

Find New Distractions

Your thoughts can be quite trying during this time, but finding new and immersive distractions is great. 

For example, you may want to start working out, or engaging in new, healthy behaviors.  These new behaviors will help keep your mind off things. 

And if you find those pesky thoughts trying to get ahold of you, stop, take a deep breath, and do something else.  Don’t spend time trying to ruminate on things you can’t control at the moment. Unfortunately, it’s hard to control things right now, given the troublesome circumstances, but by learning to figure out new and fund distractions, it can keep your mental health in check despite all that’s going on. 

Don’t Pore over social Media 

Social media is probably one of the few ways to communicate with our friends and loved ones. But it can be a struggle, especially with how it is easy to consume it. There are always negative events happening on social media, and there are always those fear mongers that are there to scare you. 

If you have people who tend to scare you with what they say and how we’re all screwed and going to die, it may be in your best interest to mute them and ignore them. And, if you continue to have this negativity there, you may want to consider deleting them. 

If you have social media profiles that are filled with news, use them as little as you can. That way, you’re not hung up on what’s going on, and instead you can focus on your own life. 

Consider Help 

There is no shame in getting help either, especially if things are too much for you. Having a good person to talk to about your worries and fears is great, but unfortunately, not everyone has that person you can just share your problems to.
