Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel announces F1 retirement at end of 2022 season

Four-time Formula One racing champion Sebastian Vettel will retire at the end of this season.

Vettel has had a largely sedate campaign with Aston Martin, with a best finish of sixth place.

Vettel won all his four F1 titles consecutively from 2010-13 with Red Bull, before moving to Ferrari, where he won his last in 2019.

The German driver said Thursday on his social media, ‘The decision to retire has been a difficult one for me to take, and I have spent a lot of time thinking about it,” Vettel said. “At the end of the year I want to take some more time to reflect on what I will focus on next; it is very clear to me that, being a father, I want to spend more time with my family.’
