EX-COPE India, testimony to growing India-US military relationship

Air forces of India and the US are currently undergoing a military exercise at Kalaikunda,Agra, and Panagarh air bases with an aim to enhance operational coordination.

Exercise Cope India 23, the bilateral Air Exercise between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the United StatesAir Force (USAF) is being held at the Air Force Stations, with the commencement of the first phase of the exercise today.

The first phase of the exercise will focus on air mobility and involve the transport aircraft and Special Forces assets from both the Air Forces. Both sides fielded the C-130J and C-17 aircraft, with the USAF operating an MC-130J multimission combat transport / special operations tanker aircraft.

The exercise also includes the presence of Japanese Air Self-Defence Force aircrew, who are participating as observers.
