Cricketer Rishabh Pant injured in major accident near Roorkee, as car collides with divider, catches fire

Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper-batsman of the Indian cricket team, was involved in a major accident while he was returning from Delhi to Uttarakhand.

Pant’s car collided with the divider and caught fire near Hammadpur Jhal, near the Narsan boundary of Roorkee near the Delhi-Dehradun highway.

Pant was alone in the car at the time of the accident and according to doctors, most likely dozed off while at the wheel, which led him to lose control of the vehicle.

According to Uttarakhand Police, Pant broke the windscreen to get out of the burning car.

Pant has been transferred to the Max Hospital in Dehradun

The cricketer’s main injuries are on forehead and knee, his according to doctors, adding that his condition is said to be stable. 

The wicketkeeper-batter didn’t feature in India’s recent ODIs against Bangladesh as well before returning for the two-match Test series.
