Know What Can And Can’t Be Moved
Remember when you’re going through the escape room that not everything is what it seems. Many escape rooms incorporate false windows or doors for enhancing the setting, but that doesn’t mean you need to use them. While normally about 15% of a homes wall space is taken up by windows, it’s almost a guarantee that the way out of your escape room isn’t going to be through a fake window. Watch Out For Your Friends
Keep track of who is in the room with you. This is important for certain genres of escape rooms more than others, like in horror genre escape rooms, but can apply in every situation. If you came with your family, be aware of where the kids are, since it can be easy to wander off. Even if you showed up solo, knowing where the other people in the escape room are can help you avoid jumpscares, or at least prepare you a bit better to deal with them.

While this one sounds like common sense, this is one of the most common issues escape room employees deal with. People really like to try everything they can think of in an escape room when they get stuck, and that means everything. It can be frustrating to get stuck on a clue for sure, but don’t break anything in your attempts to solve the puzzle. If something feels like it shouldn’t be moved, it probably shouldn’t be moved. Trust your instincts, and if you do damage something, let someone know who can fix it.
Look For Low-Hanging Fruit
While this one isn’t necessarily essential to having a good, non-destructive escape room experience, it’s still pretty important. When you’re searching for clues a bit too hard, you might end up ignoring the obvious answer right in front of you. You might reach the answer eventually if you ignore the obvious, but you might feel a bit silly when you do finally figure it out.
