The Election Commission of India has announced the poll schedule for elections in five states.
Mizoram: Nov 7
Chhattisgarh: Nov 7, 17
Madhya Pradesh: Nov 17
Rajasthan: Nov 23
Telangana: Nov 30
Elections to be completed by December 5
The BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh will elect legislators from 230 constituencies while the Congress- governed Rajasthan Assembly comprises 200 seats.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) held a press briefing to announce the schedule for assembly polls in the five states in the run-up to the 2024 General Elections.
The Election Commission held a meeting on Friday of observers to develop strategy for smooth conduct of the polls. EC’s police, general and expenditure observers met to streamline strategy to ensure the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct and that money does not affect the level-playing field.
Madhya Pradesh will elect legislators for 230 constituencies, Rajasthan for 200 constituencies, Telangana for 119 constituencies, Chhattisgarh for 90 constituencies and Mizoram for 40 constituencies.
In Telangana, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi will face off against BJP and the Congress over 119 Assembly seats.
In the 90-seat Chhattisgarh assembly, Congress is all set to fight the BJP while both the parties will attempt to get a foothold in the 40-seat Assembly of Mizoram, currently led by the Mizo National Front.
Results of the elections will be declared on December 3, while the elections will conclude on December 5.

Voters can update details in voters roll from October 17 to November 30, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said. There will be1.77 lakh polling stations in 5 States and 1.01 lakh polling stations would have web casting facility, he added.
‘The elections in Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, MP, Telangana will have 8.2 crore male and 7.8 crore female voters. Out of these, 60.2 lakh are first-time voters,’ Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said.
‘We have met all stakeholders, including political parties and enforcement agencies, ahead of five assembly polls,’ he added.

To ensure free, fair and inducement-free elections, the awareness and cooperation of citizens are key. Citizens can report any kind of Electoral Malpractices to ECI through ECI’s cVigil App. For every complaint, there will be a response in 100 minutes, said Chief Election Commissioner Kumar.
‘With over 940 inter-state border check posts in five states, we will be able to check any cross-border movement of illicit cash, liquor, freebies and drugs,’ he added.
