Allahabad High Court rejects plea to open Taj Mahal’s locked rooms

The Allahabad High Court rejected the petition seeking a fact-finding inquiry into the ‘history’ of the Taj Mahal, and opening of the doors of its 22 locked rooms.

The court observed that the plea, filed in the Allahabad High Court by BJP leader Rajneesh Singh to constitute a committee to find out the ‘real truth” behind Taj Mahal, is a ‘non-justiciable” issue.

‘For the prayer regarding opening up of the rooms, the historical research ought to involve a proper methodology. This should be left to the historians,’ the court added.
