Taking to X, the Prime Minister said, ‘The countrymen should look at the pile of these notes and then listen to the honest ‘speeches’ of their leaders.’
‘Whatever has been looted from the public, every penny will have to be returned, this is Modi’s guarantee’ the Prime Minister added.
The PM’s remarks came after the Income Tax Department seized cash worth more than INR 100 crore as raids were underway from December 6 at premises linked to Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu.
According to sources, the I-T raids will continue on premises linked to the Boudh Distillery Private Limited in Odisha, from where the cash was recovered.
As on Friday, the department officials recovered more than 150 bags containing cash during the raid at Sudapada in Bolangir district.
A former IT commissioner speaking to news agencies said that this could be the largest cash seizure by the income tax department in Odisha so far.
‘I have never come across the recovery of such a huge amount of cash in the state,’ he said.
