Neeraj Chopra, Rohit Yadav, Eldhose Paul and Annu Rani scripted history at the World Athletic Championships by quailfying for the finals of the javelin throw event,
Chopra throw of 88.39 metres in 12 seconds on Friday during the Men’s Javelin qualification event saw him make his way to hist first final in the Championships held at Oregon.
Chopra had missed out on the final at the prior Championships in London 2017, while injury had prevented him from participating in the event at Doha 2019.
Rohit Yadav who threw 80.42 metres also joined Chopra in the finals.
A last attempt throw of 59.60 metres ensured Annu Rani qualify for her second consecutive finals in the Women’s Javelin qualifications at the World Championships. Rani started with a foul throw and 55.35 metres in her second try, all but ending her campaign, but managed to get to 40cm short of 60m in her third attempt, making her way to the final.
Eldhose Paul made history by becoming the first Indian to qualify for the Triple Jump final, with a jump of 16.68 metres.
