Popular television and film actor Sidharth Shukla, famous as the lead in the long-running TV show Balika Vadhu and more recently the winner of Bigg Boss 13, passed away on Thursday at Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital, according to hospital sources.
Mr. Shukla is reported to have suffered a massive heart attack, Thursday morning, and was rushed to the hospital at 11 am, according to doctors, who added that the cause of death cannot be confirmed until the official post-mortem is conducted.
Celebrities such as Madhuri Dixit, Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chadha, Koena Mitra, Nimrat Kaur and Bipasha Basu took to social media to express their condolences.
Mr. Shukla made his acting debut with a lead role in the 2008 show Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na, but it was the popular ‘Balika Vadhu‘ show that catapulted him to fame. In 2014, he made his Bollywood debut in a supporting role in the Alia Bhatt-Varun Dhawan starrer Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania,before going to win the popular realty shows Bigg Boss 13 and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 7. He also hosted crime show Savdhaan India and talent show India’s Got Talent.
Mr. Shukla was 40 years old and is survived by his mother and two sisters.
