BJP MP Varun Gandhi, who sought strict action in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, where a Union Ministers convoy ran over and killed four protesting farmers, have been dropped from the party’s national executive, sources say.
Gandhi’s name was left out of the partys new national executive committee. His mother, fellow BJP leader Maneka Gandhi, also seems to have been left out of the list of names announced by BJP President JP Nadda on Thursday.
BJP on Thursday constituted a new national executive committee with 80 members, dropping the prominent leaders including former union minister Chaudhary Birender Singh, who have voiced their critique on the farm laws, as well as Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy.
The BJP National Executive has the party top brass that includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi, defence minister Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, as well as party veterans L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi as its members.

Union Minister B L Verma, has been inducted as a special invitee. Among the 80 members in the national executive, 12 are from Uttar Pradesh and there are six special invitees also from the state, which is a key aspect to note leading up to the important UP state elections in 2022.
Newly appointed Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnav and Jyotiraditya Scindia have been inducted into the fresh team.
