Within an hour, Virender Paswan, a panipuri seller from Bihar, was shot dead by suspected militants about 8 km away from Bindroo’s shop. Shortly afterwards, news emerged of another killing, Mohammad Shafi Lone, a taxi driver had been shot dead in Bandipora district.
J&K DGP Dilbag Singh condemned the tragic incident, saying “These recent incidents of targeting civilians are to create an atmosphere of fear, communal disharmony here. This is a conspiracy to target the local ethos & values & defame local Kashmiri Muslims. This is being done on instructions from agencies in Pak”
