Trends are cyclical. Something that was trendy a couple of decades ago can easily come back around. We see this most often in fashion. Chunky sneakers, for example, were a fashion staple during the 1980s. Today, they’re back in vogue. It’s the same with high-waisted jeans, round glasses and cargo pants. Watching styles come back around is almost expected in fashion but it’s not the only area of life where retro trends are welcomed with open arms.
Good Ideas Can Be Good Forever

Business ideas that were once successful don’t always bear fruit in the present. However, it’s also true that a good idea can be a good idea forever. If we accept this premise, it’s hardly surprising that digital technology has breathed new life into ideas that had lost their lustre due to the passage of time. You only have to look at the latest cinema releases to see that this is true. King Kong, for example, was a hit back in 1933 but it’s been recycled each time technology has been capable of making the rampaging gorilla look more realistic.
Another example of an industry that revived its fortunes by embracing new technology is bingo. The game seemed to peak in the 60s, 70s and 80s before falling into decline during the 90s. It looked all but dead in the early noughties until online bingo appeared. Part of the digital poker, betting and gaming revolution, online bingo now attracts players of all ages. Indeed, you only have to look at the imagery and offer at Buzz Bingo to see that it caters to new generations of players. From prize wheel promotions shown on flashing banners to themed games such as Deal or No Deal, the site is clearly for all adults, and not just those of retirement age.
Digital Transformations Can Make Old Ideas Feel New

That’s a departure from the old stereotype that bingo is only for old people. Thus, we can say that turning bingo into an online pursuit has not only rejuvenated it as a pastime, but it’s also made it appealing to a new demographic. That’s the real power of change. A good idea can be good forever, but it has to speak to a new generation. Chunky sneakers transported here directly from the 80s probably wouldn’t appeal to trendy adults. However, when you use the old sneakers as a template and tweak the look to align with modern tastes, you get a retro hit. That’s what Hollywood directors do and it’s what bingo operators did 15 years ago.
These aren’t the only industries where old trends come back around. Coca-Cola, for example, has updated its logo dozens of times to fit modern tastes. But, at its core, the logo is the same. As a business owner, this is an important concept to grasp. You don’t always have to come up with something innovative. In fact, it’s almost impossible to come up with a completely new idea. There’s nothing wrong with reviving old ideas. As long as it was previously a good idea and you can put a new spin on it, you could be on the right path. Digital technology gives you the power to do this. Therefore, if you want to take your business forward, don’t be afraid to look backwards.
