Story:
Vijay (Sree Vishnu), a bank employee, falls for Purva Nettem (Ketika Sharma) at first sight. While he attempts to win her heart, another twist emerges—Harini (Ivana) is secretly in love with Vijay and follows him everywhere. The film explores what happens when Harini’s intentions are revealed and Purva discovers Vijay’s pursuits. How this love triangle unfolds forms the crux of #Single.
Plus Points:
Sree Vishnu’s Comic Timing: Sree Vishnu repeats his comedic act big time with ease of style and witty, trend dialogue coupled with meme-able situations.
Vennela Kishore’s Support: His episodes with Sree Vishnu are full of belly laugh moments and help the film maintain its breezy tone.
Leading Ladies’ Performances: Ketika Sharma shines with a lesser-glamour role that tries to get her out of glam portrayals. Ivana has energy and mischievousness that complements the comedy just fine.
Supporting Cast: VTV Ganesh steals the scene whenever he makes an appearance, and other supporting actors do an okay job.
Fun-Filled Comedy: Both the first and second halves have comedy sequences in between that do their job to entertain despite the story itself being a bit weak.
Minus Points:
Weak Storyline: The movie is mostly comedies with less emphasis on the main plot. A stronger storyline would have helped the comedies go higher.
Slow Pacing: The pace slows down in the middle of both halves, leading to some sections feeling stretched.
Underdeveloped Characters: Ivana and Ketika Sharma’s characters are underdeveloped. With improved development, their characters could have added more to the emotional center of the film.
Wasted Potential: Good actors such as VTV Ganesh and Rajendra Prasad waste potential. Emotional moments are a letdown thanks to the overall light tone.
Forgettable Music: The tracks fail to leave an impression and hardly contribute to the narration.
Technical Aspects:
Direction: Caarthick Raju’s attempt to provide a laugh-riot is successful to some extent. The lack of a strong narrative dilutes the overall effect.
Cinematography & Music: R. Velraj’s cinematography is neat, and the background score goes well with the comic tone. Vishal Chandrasekhar’s music is mediocre.
Editing: Praveen KL’s editing is passable, but tighter cuts—particularly in the second half—would have made the pacing stronger.
Production Quality: The movie has good production values, which makes it visually good-looking.
Verdict:
Overall, #Single is a good one-time watch for people who like light-hearted comedies. Sree Vishnu and Vennela Kishore’s comic appeal is the movie’s strongest aspect, while the female leads are apt in their roles. A shortage of story depth and some mediocre sequences, however, keep it from being an exceptional entertainer. If you’re looking for some funny moments and don’t care for a weak storyline, #Single can be your weekend watch.
