RJD: Ready To Embrace JD(U) If Nitish Kumar Breaks Ranks With BJP

Amid brewing turmoil in Bihar politics in the ruling JD(U)-BJP alliance, the RJD and JD(U) called for separate meetings of their MLAs in Patna.

RJD national vice-president Shivanand Tiwary said that ‘If Nitish chooses to dump NDA, what choice do we have except to embrace him.’

‘RJD is committed to fighting the BJP. If the Chief Minister decides to join this fight, we will have to take him along.’

The Chief Minister fueled speculations of a rift with the BJP, as he was absent at the farewell of former President Ram Nath Kovind and the swearing-in of new President Droupadi Murmu

Kumar had also skipped the NITI Aayog meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.

The JD(U) cited the Chief Minister’s ill health as the reason for his absence, as he had then tested positive for COVID-19.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda visited Patna in the recent past, as the BJP maintained its silence on the issue.

More clarity is expected to emerge on Tuesday, when the opposition camps will also be holding their meetings.
