Reliance Jio to begin 5G rollout by October, says Mukesh Ambani

Mr. Ambani addressed the 45th Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries’ (RIL), after son Akash Ambani was named Chairman of Jio.

The company plans to deliver 5G across the country by December 2023, said Mr. Ambani.

Within the next two months. That is by Diwali, we will launch Jio 5G across multiple key cities including metro cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata,’ Mr. Ambani said.

Jio plans to increase its 5G footprint month-on-month to cover the entire country, according to the company.

Jio had purchased spectrum worth INR 88,078 crore in the recently-held 5G auctions.

‘India is ranked 138th in the world in fixed broadband adoption. Jio will take India to be among the top 10 globally in fixed broadband adoption,’ Mr. Ambani said of the company’s 5G ambitions.
