A brief glimpse into the Indian School of Business’ successful journey that has transformed the face of leadership even as the institution gears up for the 15th edition of ISB Leadership summit, a flagship event during which the school hosts eminent personalities across all spheres as well as their dynamic thoughts on leadership.
Conceived in 1995 out of the need for establishing a world class management school that focused on emerging markets, the Indian School of Business (ISB) today looks all set to cross its 16th year mark in a few months- a number that is infinitely outweighed by the institution’s accolades and accomplishments. With a governing Board that comprised of the who’s who of India Inc., strong tie ups with other management institutions across the globe, and a stellar faculty pool, ISB took on the daunting task of redefining leadership for the emerging markets– a stupendous feat evidenced by success of its 8,500 strong alumni base many of whom are either well on their way or have already found their way to C-Suites of multinational corporations.
Grooming for selection in the Post graduate program in Management (PGP), ISB’s flagship course, begins early on through the offering of Young Leader’s Program where graduate students enrolled under the program are mentored and later selected after completing 2 years of work experience.The PGP curriculum focuses on inculcating leadership and other business skills throughthe use of innovative pedagogical methods, team building skills in a culturally and professionally diverse environment with a strong business focus and is adequately supplemented by other well thought out initiatives such as Experiential Learning programs that involve working with corporates on select assignments, Speaker sessions and Industry deep dive sessions, alum networking events such as Solstice and Equinox, corporate treks and competitions.
ISB Leadership Summit (ILS)
The center of focus of all leadership oriented activities at the school,is the annual ISB leadership summit (ISL), a flagship event hosted by the school’s Graduate Student Board, that hosts eminent leaders across diverse spheres in a bid to provide students as well as corporates an opportunity to open their minds to innovative leadership thoughts. This year, the 15th edition of ILSwill be heldon 22n-24th September 2017 in ISB’s campuses at Hyderabad and Mohali. The theme for this year’s Summit is “Transforming Tomorrow: The future unraveled”- which focusses on trends that will be instrumental in shaping the future of countries and their economic environments. The school will be hosting prominent personalities and dignitaries such as Venkaiah Naidu (Vice President, India), Dr. Manmohan Singh (Former Prime Minister of India), Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi (Administrator of Puducherry), Shri KT Rama Rao( Minister of IT municipal corporation, urban development and Urban Development ,Government of Telangana) DevendraFadnavis (Chief Minister of Maharashtra), Karan Johar (Director, Actor)Dr. K. Radhakrishnan (Former Chairman, ISRO), Jayant Sinha (Minister of State for Civil Aviation), Ajay Bakshi (CEO, Manipal Health) and Vani Kola (MD, Kalaari Capital), amongst others amongst others.
Also, this yearthe event is all set to feature a first-of-its-kind thought leadership debate titled”Emerging Leader’s forum” that will bring together some of the brightest minds across different B Schools in the country to speak on diverse topics ranging across, politics, society, business, Technology and Finance. Teams would be judged by an independent panel comprising of renowned figures from the world of academics and business and the team that presents the most innovative leadership ideas will be awarded prizes worth Rs. 100,000.
The school has earlier hosted luminaries such as Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, NR Narayana Moorthy and Adi Godrej amongst others.
