The premise behind Onepoll (Talker Research) is simple – share your views and earn rewards. But as with all money-making apps and platforms, there’s more than meets the eye. The short surveys (or, rather, polls) you find there aren’t THAT profitable, and the payout threshold is high.
So, should you try it or look for platforms that can function as an Onepoll alternative? I’ve looked into Onepoll and compared it with other similar survey sites to give you a head start.
What is Onepoll?
Onepoll is a marketing research agency that provides information to companies about current trends and consumer insights. It’s a part of a larger media conglomerate controlling many news channels. Even a short research on this company creates a lot of trust.
It does indeed have a legitimate interest in your opinions, so it’s hard to think of it as a scam. Governments and businesses routinely need a source of what the public thinks. Companies like Onepoll are in a position to supply it. They have been doing it for over ten years.
Over this time, they have established a user-friendly service for the participants. There are convenient Android and iOS apps, as well as a website. All three are free of unnecessary clutter and go straight to the point – answering short polls.
Most polls are worth pennies, but they also take only a few minutes of your time. Onepoll clearly has partnered with big retailers and government organizations, as questions there seem to lean toward various products and public services.
The platform is about to change a lot in the future. As I’m writing this, Onepoll is in a transition to be rebranded as Talker Research. So far, it doesn’t seem that major changes are coming soon. As participants, we can only hope the service will keep the things that are good.
What I like about Onepoll the most is that it doesn’t waste your time with questionnaires you won’t qualify for. Many paid survey platforms collect answers and then tell you that you don’t qualify after you have already spent your precious time.
It’s an unacceptable practice, and I’m glad Onepoll doesn’t do it. However, there are some other drawbacks to consider.
Ways to Earn Money:
Answering short polls is the main way you can earn money on Onepoll. They are made quite well, so you can just answer them on the go from your phone. It literally takes only minutes, which is nice.
Of course, there are longer surveys, but you will see the information before completing them. Usually, it’s reflected in the price.
Prize draws are another way to earn money on Onepoll. It can even double your earnings or give you a special prize after you complete an eligible poll.
The referral program is the third way, and as with all paid survey sites, it might be the most profitable one. You can earn $4 per person you have invited.
At the moment, this bonus isn’t available as the platform is transitioning into Talker research. However, there are signs that the referrals program will be transferred, too.
Thresholds and Poll Frequency:
Surveys at Onepoll are valued quite low – from $0.10 to $0.30, on average. However, it takes only a couple of minutes to complete them. Theoretically, you can get around five of them per day and earn around $1 dollar. In practice, I was only able to get only three or four per week.
At first, the platform gave me much more polls. After I started to be more active, the amount decreased significantly. It might be a technical problem or something related to the rebranding. I hope they will fix it.
Unfortunately, the platform doesn’t give the value of polls in dollars. Instead, it uses a points system that, like all such systems, is designed to confuse you. One point is worth one penny at Onepoint. So, cashing out $25 via PayPal takes 2500 points.
Considering that most surveys are around 20 points, it will take you a hundred surveys to cash out. It’s obviously too much, and most users will just leave the platform before reaching it. I get it that it costs to make payments, but this isn’t the solution.
Top 3 Onepoll alternatives:
Pawns.app:
Most paid survey platforms are good before they get mainstream. The influx of new participants usually makes the conditions worse for the owners. Then you get such high thresholds and low-paid surveys as in Onepoll.
Pawns is the best way to ensure you get the best deal answering surveys. On average, one survey there is valued at $1, and the threshold is just $5. There’s also a convenient app with other ways to make money.
Branded Surveys:
Branded Surveys share some of the drawbacks Onepoll has, such as an unnecessary points system and a lack of daily surveys. But it’s also better at many other aspects – a low threshold of $5, the option to get gift cards, and additional sources of profit.
Branded Surveys is a great option to balance out the drawbacks of Onepoll. I wouldn’t use any of them alone, but their combination is quite good.
Survey Monkey:
Survey Monkey is one of the most popular paid survey platforms today. If you are from a location they seek, you’ll be great there with lots of surveys. However, competing with millions of others to grab the surveys first is difficult.
Survey Monkey is still a great option, with a threshold of $5 for gift cards. Bank transfers and PayPal may have a larger limit, but they are rarely complained about. Those who get surveys from them due to demographics easily reach $25 to $50 per month.
Conclusion:
My recommendation is to wait for Onepoll to finish its transition to Talker research. Likely, their offers will improve as they will try to attract new participants. At the moment, alternatives like Pawns or Branded Surveys are better. Besides, you should always use multiple paid survey sites.
