The Xbox Game Pass is considered a disappointment by the majority of the gaming community for a long time. The games that it has on the library are only those that are either cheap on Steam or considered a massive flop in the market. That’s not saying that they don’t have great games because they do but too few to keep anyone interested.
Just like how gamblers use bitcoins to play in this casino, Microsoft is not going to buy ZeniMax for $7.5 billion (?554,597,250,000) on a whim. They have faith in the purchase’s return value in the long run and most of that faith stems from Bethesda Softworks, Bethesda Game Studios, Arkane Studios, id Software, MachineGames, and Tango Gameworks.
Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, has stated that all of this is dedicated to improving Xbox’s existing services such as the Game Pass. He has also clarified that the deal is not yet closed. That means they do not own the games yet and that is why no one could see Fallout or The Elder Scrolls games on the Xbox Game Pass Library yet.
Imagine the following games coming to the Xbox Game Pass! For ?1,108 a month, you can play the best games from some of the industry’s top companies instead of paying over ?2,200 per title!
? The Elder Scrolls Series
Bethesda is getting tired of reminding people that the sixth title of the series will not come any time soon. However, it is currently in development. The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is a hard act to follow as it was considered as the best game of 2011 until recent memory. Even when tough contenders like The Witcher 3 and Dark Souls appeared on the market, the fifth Skyrim is still considered relevant until recent memory.
? Dishonored Series
The first Dishonored game appeared in 2012 and was regarded as one of the best puzzle stealth games in recent memory. Its follow-ups, Death of the Outsider and Dishonored 2, expanded on its already engaging mechanics. Although they were critically acclaimed, they did not exactly sell well because of its difficulty. It is a mystery why Arkane and Bethesda didn’t offer to put these games on the Xbox Game Pass.
? Wolfenstein 1 and 2
The Wolfenstein series is one of the most groundbreaking single-player shooters in the history of gaming! It follows the emotional yet thrilling adventures of B.J. Blazkowicz. The gameplay itself was also amazing by the standards of modern shooters. It’s a shame that the charming twin daughters of B.J, couldn’t make Wolfenstein: Youngblood as successful as their father’s adventures. Youngblood did appear on the Xbox Game Pass but not the other parts of the series. Microsoft did admit that they are considering making future games from Bethesda exclusive to the Xbox. They also acknowledged that this action will cause outrage among the existing fans. They do talk about the idea of releasing games from this company on the Xbox Game Pass, including the new ones on launch date. The latter thought was the one received with approval from the public. Phil Spencer and his team are hopeful that they can successfully close the deal by 2021.
Just imagine having the ability to play all of the Triple-A and Double-A titles from companies like Bethesda and its partners. The Elder Scrolls 6 is currently the most highly anticipated title despite the company being adamant that it will not appear soon. With games like Cyberpunk
2077 appearing on all consoles and the PC, it might be difficult to create something that could compete. Sony also has amazing exclusives like Ghost of Tsushima and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Microsoft does have the Halo series as an exclusive title but getting ZeniMax on the team would greatly improve the Xbox library. Microsoft stated that they will respect all of the companies’ pending contracts such as timed-exclusives in PlayStation or Epic Store. The topic of exclusivity for new games, however, could be a completely different discussion. There is a possibility that they won’t because sales made by Bethesda on the PlayStation or Steam could still be profitable for Microsoft. Regardless, it is promised that these games will appear on the Xbox Game Plus library.
