Khushi Kapoor – A Bright Spark with Room to Grow
Khushi Kapoor, in her first major film outing after her debut in The Archies, brings a certain charm to her character, Baani. While her performance has improved since her previous role, it’s clear that Khushi still has a long way to go. Her on-screen presence is undeniable, with her bright smile and emotional depth, especially during pivotal scenes. However, there are moments where she still feels a little too forced, especially in the romantic sequences. Loveyapa does give her the opportunity to display her emotional range, and she certainly shines in certain moments.
Junaid Khan – A Promising Newcomer Struggling with Romance
On the other hand, Junaid Khan seems to be still finding his footing. His performance as Gaurav lacks the natural chemistry and ease that you would expect in a romantic lead. Despite its strong premise, Loveyapa suffers from trying to tackle too many issues at once. From online trolling to trust issues, deepfakes, and AI, the film crams a lot into its relatively short runtime. While these topics are important, the movie could have benefited from focusing on one or two central themes instead of spreading itself thin. As the film progresses, it feels like the narrative loses its focus, becoming overly complicated and hard to follow.
The editing also leaves much to be desired. The pacing slows down significantly in the second half, and by the time the couple sorts out their issues, you might be wondering if it’s worth it. The plot feels stretched, and the character development isn’t as deep as it could have been.
