Virat Kohli debuted in Tests in 2011 against the West Indies.
10 years later, Kohli is now all set to play his 100th Test match in Mohali, after a glittering run as one of India’s most successful captains ever, apart from claims to the throne of ‘GOAT’ when it comes to his run-making exploits as India’s star bat.
Having donned the white jersey in 99 Test matches, Kohli amassed 7962 runs at an average of 50.39.
Kohli led the Indian team in 68 Tests and won 40 matches, for a win ratio of just under 60 percent.
In the first 10 years of Test cricket, nobody got as many centuries as Kohli did, although people keep awaiting the next one.
Kohli’s most successful year was 2016 when he hammered 1215 runs in 12 Tests.
Stepping Stones To 100th Test Milestone:
Kohli’s record of 20 Test centuries as skipper is the second-most for any player. Only Graeme Smith (25) is ahead of him.
Kohli’s 27 centuries since his debut are only equalled by Australia’s Steve Smith
Kohli won 24 Test matches at home as India captain
Kohli also holds the record for most Test wins as Indian captain, with a record percentage of 58.82%, going past MS Dhoni as the most successful Indian Test skipper
He became only the second cricketer after Greg Chappell to score twin hundreds on Test captaincy debut.
