Hairstylist to the stars Jawed Habib was caught in the crosshairs of a controversy Thursday after a video where he was seen spitting on a woman’s head surfaced on social media.
The video, that went viral, was shot during a workshop Habib conducted in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar.
Habib, while styling the woman’s hair, can be seen spitting on her head, saying ‘This spit has life.’
Now, the celebrity hairstylist has issued an apology through a video message.
In his apology video, Jawed Habib said that such things are often done with a ‘humorous’ intent during workshops.
The lady in question may have found it difficult to see the humor in the situation, given the current times we live in, and also the ‘socially frowned upon’ behavior exhibited by Habib in general.
‘Some words spoken by me during my seminar have hurt a few people. I just want to say one thing these are professional workshops, as in, they are attended by people from within our profession. When these sessions get very long, we have to make them humorous. What can I say? If you are truly hurt, I apologise from the bottom of my heart. Please forgive me, I am sorry,’ Jawed Habib can be heard saying in the video.
