An epic war of words was witnessed on Wednesday as actors Diljit Dosanjh and Kangana Ranaut got into a heated Twitter spat over the issue of farmers’ protests in Delhi.
A spat that began with the misidentification of an elderly woman farmer from Punjab, she was allegedly mistaken for an elderly lady who took part in the earlier Shaheen Bagh protests against the CAA, soon spilled over to name-calling, Punjabi identity, the Delhi riots and some sons-of-the-soil rhetoric.
With both parties offering arguments and counter-arguments, the unseemly Twitter spat saw a lot of support for Dosanjh from the film fraternity, while fans took sides and took aim via memes over the micro-blogging site.
Whatever the last word was on the argument, one thing is for certain, it left a lot of netizens scrambling for translation applications, as much of the exchange took place in chaste Punjabi.
The farmers have been protesting against the farm laws which were passed by the Parliament in September 2020.
