It’s easy to imagine that the entertainment industry continues to simply offer the same sorts of options that have always been available to the British public. However, by looking at a few new types of entertainment, we can see how the latest technology is allowing businesses to bring in fresh ideas.
New Casino Games Based on Foreign Success Stories:
There are plenty of gambling games that are loved in other countries, but that many British people have never heard of. The arrival of online games allowed developers to create new versions of these games that appeal to UK audiences. Some of these games retain the rules and gameplay, while others are only loosely based on the original.
Pachinko is a hugely popular game played in Japan where players watch as a set of metal balls bounce around the machine. Often likened to a slot machine, Pachinko has unique features that sets it apart. Similarly, Betfair’s Plinko offers a different experience where the balls are released at the top of the screen and fall to the bottom, where they can land in one of the fields where a multiplier value is noted. This similarity highlights how Plinko resembles the essence of Pachinko, while incorporating modern technology.
Other international games to reach British online casinos include the Indian card game called Andar Bahar. Rather like poker, players have to try and get the highest-possible ranking hand. Sic Bo is a dice game that is widely played in Asian casinos and is now available online for British players.
Foreign Shows on Streaming Services:
The huge impact of streaming services has allowed us to enjoy our favourite shows at any time, while it’s also introduced British audiences to foreign shows and movies. K-dramas from South Korea have proved to be popular, with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video amongst the services with this category. The list of the best Korean dramas from Glamour Magazine includes Extraordinary Attorney Woo, The Glory, and Love to Hate You.
Spain has also produced some of the most memorable streaming hits in the last few years. Money Heist has become a global hit, with several series of the drama grabbing the attention of viewers across the planet. The Italian resistance song Bella Ciao was featured here and turned into a summer hit across Europe, showing how the heist series was loved in many countries.
Live Stream Shopping:
The final type of entertainment that’s becoming big in the UK largely took off in China initially. Live stream shopping features a presenter who introduces the products that viewers can buy. Purchasers can also ask questions and watch as the presenter gives them a demonstration of how the product works or looks. It quickly became a massive industry in China from 2016 onwards, with 388 million users purchasing through this type of e-commerce by 2020.
Social media platforms like Instagram have been leading the move into this industry in the UK, with Twitch and YouTube providing alternative ways of shopping in a live setting. This look at the subject on the Capterra blog confirms that more than half of all shoppers are aware of this type of online shopping and that it could make up a quarter of all British e-commerce sales by the time 2025 comes around.
These new trends coming from abroad have added some fresh new areas to the British entertainment scene. As technology continues to progress and more new ideas arrive, we can expect to see the different types of entertainment available here continue to diversify.
