The last two decades have radically changed the way that we see tech. So many things have changed, and it would also seem that so many advancements have been made as well. If you’re interested in finding out more or if you want to make sure that you are up to date on the latest trends and changes, then the only thing that you need to do is take a look below.
Media Consumption
The last 20 years really have shaped the way that we consume media. When you look at how things were in the early 2000s, you’ll soon see that tech firms were focused on trying to expand communication for work through things like advanced bandwidth or even video streaming. You also had other forms of media consumption that are very common in the world today. Others followed the path of trying to expand media that goes beyond the traditional outlet. Early tech pioneers, including PlanetOut, did this in a way of providing an alternative media source to those who are part of the LGBTQIA community.
Biotech and the World of Healthcare
If you look at the world of healthcare, then you will see that there have been various tech investors who have contributed over time. Take Tej Kohli for example, who has been using his own knowledge as an entrepreneur and an investor to ensure that those who need tech-focused healthcare are given the opportunity to have their lives radically transformed. A lot of his work is done through the Corneal Institute. In one of his Tej Talks by Tej Kohli blogs, he discusses how corneal blindness disproportionately affects poor people, and that technological developments will offer a way of reaching out to and into these communities more effectively – both in terms of outcome and affordability – than previous treatment practices and models, with the goal of eradicating corneal blindness as a problem.
Climate Change
So many scientists in this day and age are now looking to tech to see if they can try and create a world that is carbon neutral. Even though a lot of attention is being given to climate change in this day and age, it would seem that a lot of efforts are now being rejuvenated. Green tech is giving a lot of new investment opportunities to start-ups and they are also doing everything they can to try and expand the focus as well. If you look at some of the companies from this year’s Tech Pioneers group, you will see that a lot of companies are now starting to roll out tech that removes CO2 from the air.
Another expanding area for a lot of young tech firms would be food innovations. Firms such as Aleph Farms and even Air Protein are all trying to create meat alternatives as well as dairy-free foods. They are doing this to try and help the environment so that we can make a positive change.
