Singer-songwriter and former boyband One Direction member Zayn Malik and supermodel Gigi Hadid have reportedly parted ways after a long relationship. The couple welcomed daughter Khai Hadid Malik in September 2020.
Hours before news of Zayn Malik-Gigi Hadid’s break-up emerged, Gigi’s mother Yolanda was reportedly considering filing a police report against Malik for ‘striking her.’
Zayn Malik later took to Twitter to issue a statement where he spoke about a ‘private matter.’
“This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press,” he wrote.
‘As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in. A place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart.’ Zayn added.
Zayn and Gigi first sparked rumors of a relationship in 2015, soon after Gigi appeared in Zayn’s single ‘Pillow Talk.’ The couple confirmed their romance as they appeared on the cover of Vogue in 2016. They later parted ways in 2018, only to reconcile in 2019.
During the lockdown of 2020, the couple confirmed Gigi’s pregnancy.
‘I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves,’ Malik wrote on social media, in light of the reports.
