Our face conveys our expressions and emotions, influencing how we present ourselves to others. Facial plastic surgery can enhance specific features of the face and neck. A skilled plastic surgeon can help with various facial enhancements. Here are five of the many options for surgery:
1. Facelift – Rhytidectomy:
A facelift is a common procedure that addresses our skin’s response to years of exposure to gravity and the sun. Daily stress shows on our faces over time, but a facelift is a way to remove some of those visible signs. Through a facelift, a plastic surgeon is able to fix deep creases around your mouth and remove areas of loose skin from your jawline. They are able to tighten the overall skin and muscles. Plastic surgeons can remove folds and fat deposits on your neck during the procedure. After a facelift, patients’ facial skin appears fresh and more youthful. This surgery is commonly combined with other surgeries to achieve multiple goals in one procedure.
2. Eyelid Surgery – Blepharoplasty:
An eyelid surgery is a way to rejuvenate sagging, puffy, and tired-looking eyes. Plastic surgeons remove excess fat, skin, and muscles from the upper and/or lower eyelids. It’s often a cosmetic procedure but is occasionally necessary to improve a person’s vision if their eyelids are drooping into their field of vision. This surgery is generally quicker than the others and is easily combined with other procedures, such as BOTOX or Juvéderm, to further raise the eyebrows and reduce the appearance of wrinkles around or under the eyes. The process entails tiny incisions made in the creases of the patient’s upper eyelids and just below the lashes on the lower lids. The surgeon removes any excess skin, tightens the area, and stitches the area up with sutures that are barely noticeable.
3. Nose Reshaping – Rhinoplasty:
Plastic surgeons can remove humps, narrow nostril widths, and/or change the angle between the nose and mouth to reshape or reduce a person’s nose. Injuries and birth defects can be addressed through plastic surgery on the nose. Through a septorhinoplasty procedure, surgeons are able to correct nasal issues that affect breathing. This involves operating on the cartilage and bone of the nose to open blocked nasal passages, creating a more comfortable situation for patients.
4. Forehead Lift/Brow Lift – Browplasty:
A forehead lift, or brow lift, revitalizes drooping on the upper facial area as well as correct lines along the forehead. Plastic surgeons typically use one of these two standard methods:
● A traditional method where surgeons make a coronal incision behind the hairline in between the ears. They then lift the skin, remove excess fat and tissue, realign muscle, and raise the eyebrows.
● A less invasive endoscopic method where surgeons make three to five short incisions and place a slim instrument with a camera on the end through one incision. The work is performed through the other incisions to elevate the brows and forehead.
Forehead lifts are effective ways to smooth lines overall and lift the area around your eyes. This procedure is often combined with an eyelid surgery to achieve the fullest results.
5. Liposuction:
Liposuction is a common cosmetic procedure that can be performed on the chin, cheeks, and neck through a small incision. The plastic surgeon uses a small tube or cannula to break up fat layers and suck it out. Liposuction is especially helpful in areas that have not responded well to diet and exercise. It is a permanent solution for fat loss, and incisions fade and blend into your surrounding skin.
Minimally Invasive Injections:
For facial enhancements that are quick and minimally invasive, you can take advantage of options such as BOTOX and Juvéderm fillers. Fillers are used to minimize or eliminate the appearance of wrinkles. They are injected under the skin, typically around the eyes, forehead, and mouth. The purpose is to weaken the muscles in the specific area and give the face a relaxed, rejuvenated appearance. BOTOX is helpful for migraines, excessive sweating, or to minimize muscle spasms in the eyelids and neck.
Choose A Skilled Plastic Surgeon:
Because our facial expressions are an integral part of communicating, facial plastic surgery is a way to help you achieve the expressions you desire. Facial plastic surgery should be performed by a skilled plastic surgeon who understands your goals. Schedule a consultation with a reputable plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns and questions.
