Donald Trump Announces His Social Media Platform

Former President Donald Trump’s company, Trump Media and Technology Group, announced on Wednesday the launch of a new social network named TRUTH Social.

Donald Trump announced plans to launch his own social networking platform. He has been banned from Facebook and Twitter for his incendiary views that went against company policy

A beta version of Truth Social will be available to invited guests in November.

This will be followed by a nationwide rollout in the US, in the first quarter of 2022, according to a press release.

The company in a released statement said that its mission is to “create a rival to the liberal media consortium and fight back against the ‘Big Tech’ companies of Silicon Valley.”

This has been a pet project of the former President, whose ‘outspoken views’ on his personal social media handles, have seen widespread backlash and pushback from influential platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.

Trump was banned from those platforms after allegedly stoking the attacks on the US Capitol in January 6, with what the companies perceived as incendiary comments.

“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech,” said Trump in a statement about the launch.

“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable,” he continued.

Trump also intends to launch a subscription video on-demand service that will feature ‘non-woke’ entertainment programming, the group said in a statement.

The service will be led by Scott St. John, an executive producer from popular television programmes, ‘Deal Or No Deal’ and ‘America’s Got Talent.’

This is the second such outing for Trump, who launched a blog called “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump,” which was touted as a major new outlet for his views, but it was pulled from the internet just a month later.

Trump has also teased a potential 2024 presidential run again, but has made no official announcement, as he holds public rallies.
