Two gangsters, suspected to be the main shooters in singer Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s murder, were killed in a shootout with police at Bhakna village, 20 km from Amritsar, today.
While one suspect Jagroop Singh Roopa was killed first, the other suspect, Manpreet Singh alias Mannu Kussa, was killed around 4 pm, after holding off the police for nearly four hours, officials said.
Three policemen suffered injuries in the shootout as well.
An AK-47 rifle, a pistol and a large number of bullets have been found, according to ADGP Pramod Ban, who heads Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force.
The Anti-Gangster Task Force had been tracking the two suspects for a while.
Mannu Kussa is alleged to have fired the first shots at Moose Wala from an AK-47 rifle, police sources said.
Delhi Police arrest main shooter in Sidhu Moosewala Murder
The Delhi Police arrested shooter Ankit Sirsa, and another wanted criminal, Sachin Bhiwani, in connection with the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
While Bhiwani, who is in charge of operations for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in Rajasthan, was allegedly responsible for harboring four of the shooters, Sirsa was the one who is alleged to have shot at the singer from the closest range, police said.
Sirsa, the youngest of the shooters at just over 18 years of age, shot at close range with both hands, police said.
Police recovered a 9 mm bore pistol along with 10 live cartridges, Punjab police uniforms, two mobile handsets along with a dongle and SIM, from the duo.
With these two arrests, the city police has so far arrested five people in connection with the case.
Officials said more arrests would be made soon.
