The Delhi Metro expansion is making headlines again as the Union Cabinet has given the green light for Phase-VA, a major project that will bring 13 new stations to the capital’s metro network. - Aerocity to Airport Terminal-1 – 2.3 km, Rs 1,419.6 crore
- Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj – 3.9 km, Rs 1,024.8 crore
Once completed, the Delhi Metro network will surpass 400 km, reinforcing its status as India’s largest metro system and one of the world’s most extensive networks.

Current Status of Delhi Metro and Phase-IV Progress
The Delhi Metro currently operates 12 lines spanning about 395 km with 289 stations across Delhi and the National Capital Region. It handles an average of 65 lakh passenger journeys per day, with peak ridership reaching 81.87 lakh on August 8, 2025.
Meanwhile, Phase-IV construction, which includes 111 km of track and 83 stations, is underway:
- Civil construction on priority corridors: 80.43% completed
- Expected completion: staged by December 2026
