Deepika Padukone, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and AR Rahman represent India celebrities at the 75th Cannes Film Festival

According to media reports, the Indian delegation at Cannes this year includes AR Rahman, R Madhavan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pooja Hegde, and Nayanthara, among others.

Deepika Padukone made her first official appearance as a Cannes jury member on Monday, while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is also scheduled to make a red carpet appearance.

Padukone said during the ceremony that it is a ‘huge responsibility’ but the goal is to ’embrace the experience.’

The actress added that she and her fellow jury members ‘promised to not burden themselves’ with the responsibilities but to ‘enjoy the process.’

Padukone grabbed attention as she walked the red carpet at the opening ceremony of the Cannes film festival in a black and gold shimmery saree by ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

Padukone is part of a nine-member jury that will pick the winners of this year’s Palme d’Or honors at a gala ceremony on May 28.

The other jury members include actor-filmmaker Rebecca Hall, Naomi Rapace, and Italian actor-director Jasmine Trinca, as well as directors Asghar Farhadi, Ladj Ly, Jeff Nichols, and Joachim Trier.

The prestigious film festival is celebrating Indian cinema this year and India has been chosen as the first ‘country of honour’ at Marche du Cinema.

On the opening day, a delegation from India, led by I&B Minister Anurag Thakur, will be walking the red carpet. The delegation includes AR Rahman, Pooja Hegde, Shekhar Kapur, among others.
