Amidst efforts to mobilise support for the no-confidence motion moved by Telegu Dasam Party (TDP) against the Centre, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu met his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday.

Shortly after the meeting, TDP’s Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) C M Ramesh told reporters that Kejriwal has offered support to the TDP “through members from his party in both houses of parliament.”

Delhi’s ruling party AAP has four MPs in the Lok Sabha and three in the Rajya Sabha.

TDP filed the motion days after quitting the National Democratic Alliance over the issue of granting special status to Andhra Pradesh. The two leaders also discussed the special status issue to the southern state during their meeting.

Naidu has been aggressively campaigning to secure support from regional parties for the motion. He has already met Congress’ Veerappa Moily, Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar and Harsimrat Kaur Badal to further his cause. Naidu’s successful meet with Kejriwal comes after National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, TMC’s Sudip Bandyopadhyay, CPI’s D Raja, AIADMK’s V Maitreyan, Apna Dal’s Anupriya Patel and Samajwadi Party’s Ram Gopal Yadav also lent him their support to a varying degree.
