Popular Youtuber Carry Minati’s recent video where he adds to the the ongoing Youtube Vs TikTok debate went viral within hours last week. It has since been taken down by YouTube, allegedly on account of cyberbullying charges which violates their terms of service.
In the video, the 20-year-old sensation launched into a tirade against another popular star on TikTok, Amir Siddiqui. His main gripes were with the content on the rising platform that has taken India’s tweens by storm, roasting the inferiority and lack of imagination of its myriad ‘influencers’.
Shortly after the video was taken down, hashtags such as #CarryMinati and #JusticeForCarry began trending online. While many were disappointed over what they felt was harsh treatment meted out by Youtube, others expressed their support over removing the expletive-laden video due to the negative influence it would have over its young audience and what they felt was crossing a fine line between ‘roasting’ and abuse.
Born and raised in Faridabad, Carry Minati (real name Ajey Nagar) is one of India’s biggest Youtube stars with over 16 million subscribers.
The debate rages on for now.
