BJP-JD(U) Alliance To End In Bihar?

Nitish Kumar has sought an appointment with Governor of Bihar Phagu Chauhan at 4 pm, after calling off the ruling BJP-JD(U) alliance, sources close to the development said.

Mr. Kumar is unlikely to resign from the Chief Minister post, sources say, even as murmurs were strong he may break away from the BJP, leading up this decision.

The JD(U) may look to reshuffle the cabinet with party candidates that offer support to his party in continuing the government. Currently, BJP holds 77 seats in the State Assembly, JD(U) holds 45, the Congress 19, the Left led by CPIML(L) 16 and the RJD 79.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) party leader Tejashwi Yadav held a meeting at his mother Rabri Devi’s Circular Road bungalow, as Congress and Left parties handed over the lists of their legislators who were likely to endorse joining the JD(U)-led coalition.
